When you are making any herbal products use good hygienic practices.
Be sure all your work surfaces, equipment and storage containers are spotless. Use care collecting fresh plant material. Inspect for dirt, insects and any other 'foreign bodies' not wanted in your products. Wash only if necessary then dry thoroughly.
Use care in storing plant materials. Mold can grow in retained moisture.
Wash your hands well and often.
