Yes, not much to harvest this year but maybe enough elderberries to make a tincture or a syrup?
Blue or black elder is used in herbal medicine. Do not harvest or use the green berries.
Elderberry syrup
1C of fresh or 1/2C dried blue or black elderberries
3 cups of water
1 cup of honey
- Place berries in a saucepan
- Cover with water
- Bring to a boil
- Reduce the heat
- Simmer for a half hour
- Mash the berries
- Strain mixture through a sieve
- Add honey
- Bottle and store in the fridge
- Will last a few months.
