Another wonderful herb to plant is calendula, Calendula officinalis. They add color, the pollinators love the beautiful flowers and the flowers are used in many healing products. The blossoms to the right were harvested last fall, dried for use in oils and salves.
It is also a first aid treatment. Pick a blossom and rub on an insect sting or an abrasion to relieve the pain and aid in the healing process. Make an infused oil for a healing lotion or salve. Who knew your first aid kit could be so attractive!
